Introducing the Whole Grain Stamps
The USDA’s 2005 Dietary Guidelines recommend that we all consume three or more servings of whole grains every day. Now there’s a stamp to help you do just that…and Great Harvest breads are one of the first foods in the country to carry it! The Whole Grain Stamp, created and issued by the Whole Grains Council (http://www.wholegrainscouncil.org/), easily identifies whole grain products. And, it helps you measure if you’re getting enough whole grains, too. By the middle of 2005, the Whole Grain Stamp is expected to help highlight whole-grain cereals, breads, pastas, rice, and more—from the supermarket shelves to small food shops like Great Harvest. The Whole Grain Stamp makes it simple. Products with the “Good Source” Stamp count as half a serving of whole grains, while the “Excellent” and “100% / Excellent” versions count as a full serving of whole grains. To get the whole grains your body needs to fight disease, control weight, and promote overall heath, make sure you’re eating either three servings of “Excellent” products or six servings of “Good” products every day. Look for these stamps on our products on your next visit.
